Our Mission

Shakin’ the Table in collaboration with CJ Theatre Online brings you an incredible 2021 VIRTUAL SEASON Directed by Ashlee Bell Caress, founder of Shakin’ the Table, whose mission is making The Bard accessible, exciting, and engaging for the masses. Designed and Zoom managed by Hayley and Steven Silvers of CJ Theatre Online, who, responding to the demand for theatre to go virtual, are committed to elevating artistry and bringing the thrill of live performance to viewer’s living rooms.

Refusing to be cowed by these chaotic and unfathomable times, this production of "HENRY VIII" stands as a testament to the enduring power of artists, artistry, and art itself. As well as our commitment to the dawn of this theatrical renaissance. This production honors our “now”, and shapes our future by calling on the legacy and the foundations of our “then”. As always, theatre belongs to its audience, and our audience is larger than ever. To reach them, we need you.

ABOUT

It all started in 2018- Shakin The Table began as a facebook group for people who love The Bard and wanted to organize table reads. I had just finished a production of Macbeth and found myself searching for ANY opportunities to perform Shakespeare again. Unfortunately in Los Angeles there wasn't much to find.

I wanted more! I wanted to explore his work further with others... friends, colleagues, advanced or beginner any like minded fan. So, I created a SAFE, welcoming, literary-headspace for ALL. Allowing us to become better actors, writers, poets, directors, multi-hyphenates and humans!

Welcome 2020, the birth of virtual theatre and here we are! Finally a Theatre, bringing to you LIVE production! with a modern take on our favorite classics!
